Shameless bragging!

Postby Maeya » Mon Mar 03, 2008 3:51 pm

Well, a little bit of a back story:

One day in November, Langston/Ugzug and I were talking and joking around, and he brought up the cruise that we're going on this summer for his sister's 25th wedding anniversary. This reminded me that I needed to see if I could check on the status of my passport - I was getting it changed changed to my married name, and had sent it away with all the documentation. There were all these horror stories going around about how passports were taking months to come back, so I wanted to get it finished sooner rather than later. I made a comment about needing to look into that, and wondering how long it would take. He sort of gave me a side-long look and said "well, I guess Vienna is out for Christmas then," to which I responded, "Uh .. yeah... OK".

Well, as it turns out, he wasn't joking, and he had planned it with the travel agent where he was going to hand me the tickets on Christmas Eve and tell me to start packing. As I had no passport, he had to cancel the plans.

As it turned out, my passport came about 2 weeks later, well before Christmas. :(

Langston was disappointed he had been unable to surprise me with the trip, but promised he'd make up for it, so he set about planning another "surprise trip". I say surprise in quotation marks, because even though I knew *when* we were going, he refused to tell me where - or even give me any hints. He did all the research and planning and had everything laid out. All he told me is that I would feel "taken care of."

He would tease me, telling me that he was just building up the anticipation and that it was actually going to be an RV trip around Kentucky, and joking about how we were going to hit up every Blue Grass festival in the state.

Well, today, after months of building up the suspense, he finally revealed our destination.

We're going to the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas! http://www.atlantis.com

He's revealing more and more details of our trip, including what building we're staying in, the type of room, and the fact that we'll be picked up from the airport in a limo!

I am incredibly excited, and since my friend called in sick to work today, and I am bursting with the need to share so I figured I'd come to the boards and let you all see the Langston that I get to see! The compassionate, sweet, thoughtful, loving person he can be, and how much he dotes upon his wife :)

Also - if anyone has ever been to the area/stayed in the resort, I would LOVE advice on what to see/do and tips on what to avoid. What restaurants do we need to hit? Any local things we need to do? We only have 4 precious days and I really want to make the most of it - so any helpful thoughts would be wonderful. Thank you!

I'M GOING TO ATLANTIS!! WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

Relax and enjoy your time. Maybe rent a sailboat and head out for a half day or something.

I am going to be in Puerto Rico for two weeks later this month.
Rented out a beach house with my sister and some friends.
We plan on going surfing, hiking through the rain forest, possibly getting a charter to go fishing, just generally relaxing and having fun on our terms.

I don't want to spend any time at all just laying around in the sand soaking in the sun though even if the doctor told me to settle down. I kinda tore some cartilage in my sternum... so yeah, I'm supposed to be sedentary and let it heal? I think fucking not.

That Atlantis resort looks pretty damn cool! I might have to go check it out sometime. I heard that everything is ridiculously overpriced there, but I guess that's the way the business works. Some guy said he spent $10,000 on his family of four for a four day stay. Ouch.

That's awesome Maeya, and super thoughtful =) the difficulty of keeping your mouth shut on a surprise is intense - I imagine he was dying to tell you just to see the look on your face.

Have fun lady!

I decidedto finally say fuck it and take my first vacation in 2 years next week. Going to Mammoth Mtn., California to do some big mountain skiin for a week or so. Lodging is free since im stayin with a buddy, so thats why i picked there, otherwise it would have been Jackson Hole again or Whistler. That shop may break down while im gone, so im guessing im gonna be spendin half the time on the phone or on conference calls still yet, but oh well.

Cell phone on the lift, tell them they have 10 minutes each time!

I was up at Stephen's Pass over Christmas and had a blast.

Ive heard about that place I think 10. Last time I was out west at Jackson Hole, WY, we got 40" of snow the night I got out there. I paid 1200 for a heli trip about 5 miles out into the backcountry and skiied some pretty wicked crags

Well, we got back from our trip to Atlantis on Monday. It was incredible. Everything was so pristinely beautiful, we had a wonderful time!

I have some -->pictures to share<-- if anyone cares to view them. It's about 80% of the trip. We're getting back our underwater snorkeling photos tonight and I still have a couple more to upload, but it gives a great idea of what the resort and the grounds look like.

If anyone has an opportunity to go, or is trying to plan a nice vacation - I highly recommend it!

      WTB a bikini shot.

For two people going to a tropical beach paradise, it looked like you did nothing but museum shit.

I don't look nearly so good in a bikini as Naethyn's chicky, so I'll spare you that

We did spend a day and a half at the pools & water slides, but there wasn't an awful lot to take a picture of there. We also went snorkeling, and we're getting those pictures back today, and I don't have the pics from the dinner cruise or the trip into Nassau uploaded yet. We did *not* spend any time on the beach itself. The grounds were so spectacular that there was no need to get all sandy and gross from the salt water.

It takes forever to resize all those shots and then load them up and type in all the captions =/
