If it had been faked, you know damn well that the Marine Corps would have been publishing that fact in 48 point bold type, just to assuage people, and then followed that up with how they were nailing asses to the floorboards of those who were involved. The fact that they have done no such thing, and are kicking the guy out of the Corps entirely says to me that it was completely real, and that the guy is mentally sick. Glad the Marines treated it seriously, though they really had no choice.

Amazing how people get outraged over a fucking puppy but murdering 10's of thousands of human beings is perfectly fine.

the puppy was christian, and at least partly white, so that's why it's an outrage to certain folks around here

Well, if you look at it from the Marine Corps' view, Toss, their entire JOB is to kill people. That's their entire reason for existence. Also from their point of view, one of the unfortunate realities of war is that non-combatants die, and while they may try and minimize it, it is inevitable. However, the Corps also likes to be looked at as having a code of honor and personal ethics, and seems to take that pretty seriously. Doing something like those retards did is indefensible no matter how you look at it, but to an organization that prides itself on a code of honor and integrity... So, it's no wonder that their balls got nailed to the floorboards.

Now, I think I've established my bonifides as being against the war from the beginning, and deploring the tens of thousands of dead, regardless of nationality, but it isn't the Marine Corps' fault that it's over there, it's Bush's fault. Nor do I believe for a minute that the Marine Corps (or the Army, etc) as an institution is engaged in deliberate massacres of civilians. Yes, there have been individual cases, but as a whole, no.

I'm not in entire agreement that it's only "Bush's fault" we have the war in Iraqi. A lot had to happen for us to be there and blame has to fall equally on those responsible for war in this country, which is Congress. They tried to be all Pontius Pilate by giving the administration carte Blanche which is worse IMHO.
As for the Marines, they serve a code and broke it so the punishment is warranted. In the cold reality, worse things happen in war, but is no excuse. Men and women in uniform are held to a higher standard plain and simple. If they can't hold up to it, then they should be kicked out.

Maybe he did it specifically to get thrown out in order to get out of Iraq. People can do some pretty desperate things when they feel trapped. I'm glad I got of the Army when I did so I wouldn't have to throw puppies off cliffs to be able to come home!
