I thought the music and the lyrics were good but the lead singer is not good.
That's just my opinion though.

Just needs more ooomph. He sounds indifferent.
From what little I heard from Brin in his back up, he sounds like he's a much better singer. That was the best part of the song in my opinion.

i agree wholeheartedly!! alex has a great--and very unique--voice, not to mention he's incredibly accurate pitch-wise.

Will this song cause any women to take off their tops?
Had to ask...

I used to work with a girl that only listened to bluegrass. Only

thanks for the (personal) props ginz
to be honest i do not like the tone of my voice, but it tends to do pretty well as a backing vocal. and leah is right, i've worked hard to be able to zero in on pitch, mostly for that very purpose. after all, not many alt-rock bands around here do full harmonies when they perform live, so we ALWAYS got compliments on that back in the day.
IMHO pat's voice is kind of the opposite. its quality is awesome and really matches this type of music, but his sense of pitch is a little squirrelly at times. however, if he continues refining his singing skills at the same pace as he has been for a while now, it shouldn't be long before his voice control matches his songwriting, instrumental, and lyrical skills. i also think the recording process will cause him to take a much closer look at this issue, because i have told him i will keep asking him to try again until it sounds right.
additionally, i think now that my ridiculously expensive recording rig is finally up and running, i will probably record a few of my own creations. expect something a great deal more experimental and dynamic than this!
oh, and as a bonus teaser: infrastructure is currently being laid out to put together a sleek piano + drums + jazz bass project. more on that later.

Brin, I think the mp3 didn't upload correctly or something. I've downloaded it 3 times now and its registering as 2kb and plays nothing.
It was "Scars to Bears" right?

Re: check out our new song
Yep works now
God this song is just beautiful! I love it.
The center segment of what sounds like coffeehouse/restaurant background noise: not too long, not too short - good length and added such a nice depth to the song. During the transition into the ending instrumental, I was struck with the still image of a tired looking Superman, tattered cape and all, camera circling 360 rapidly around him while the world is going about its business completely unaware of him, and the ending was like the one kid that runs up to him as he's walking away, and hands him a flower, then him flying off with a smile remembering why he does what he does (I'm such a geek. I know.)
Truly marvelous job all around here.
Yanno, I know you said that you don't like the tone of your voice, but can I just say, I think you do yourself disservice.
Your backup here is perfect. You and Pat (that's the lead's name, right?) complement one another very well.
But...
I would love to hear you sing lead on this song. You have a wonderful voice Brin.
Just my opinion of course, but I really think that your tonality and singing style fit this song much better than his does.
Please don't dismiss the future possibility that you will sing lead in some and Pat on others, even if only periodically.
Bravo and so well done! If this was out on a single, I would buy it.

Re: check out our new song
Call me crazy, but your voices are so similar, I still say you sound like this guy some. I can tell the difference between the two of you, but again, it just blows my mind how much you sound like him.
I dig it, love the background noise. Very cool idea.

this is actually kind of how pat introduces this song when we play out, that idea of "what do superheroes do when they're feeling down in the dumps, who do they turn to?"

I have "Picture Of You" hehe. I won't post it, though. When it comes through on my shuffle I always sing along.
