They literally ushered in a new paradigm in music. I can't remember exactly which member of Motley Crue said it, but the comment was "when I heard smells like teen spirit, I knew it was over."
which is why I don't liek Nirvana
I liked the hair bands, and pretty much hated grunge and the dark hole it sucked rock into for 7 or 8 years

But they sing about love... and hobbits.
there has been a grand total of one person that i have made a conscious effort to stop being friends with in the last ten years (the guy referred to in this thread), and the last meaningful interaction i had with him involved led zeppelin
i made some crack about how all led zeppelin songs were either about "my baby" and the loss or retrieval thereof, or hobbits
and while everyone else was laughing, he glares at me completely straight-faced and says "show me ONE SONG that has ANYTHING to do with hobbits"
i had to pretend i didn't hear him so i wouldn't jack his stupid face with my beer bottle
Well, I include all "Pop" pretty much. Never could stand stuff like N'Sync or all such analogues going back to NKOTB. Never could stand stuff like Brittney or any of her analogues going back to Tiffany or Debbie Gibson, or earlier. I likewise can't stand most R&B crap, people like Janet Jackson, or that ilk.
For more rock oriented stuff, to name just a few:
Tears for Fears Live Puddle of Mudd Kid Rock Lots of Hair Metal, especially Extreme.
KID ROCK. omg. that guy can DIAF (not literally though b/c that's mean and i would feel bad if he actually did). but seriously, shit music, stupid antics, and really unattractive. bleh.
CAN NOT STAND Tears for Fears. Just takes literally about 5-10 seconds, and I'm just about screaming at the radio, "OMFG SHUT UP YOU WHINY BRITISH FUCKTARDS". I find the Disturbed cover of Shout to be pretty funny, but if I hear the original group come on the radio, the channel is switched immediately.
As for extreme, well, I generally can't stand "power ballads" in general, and that's what they made their name on. (and their other stuff just sucked too.) Add in the fact that my worst girlfriend ever (I called her 'The Unmentionable One' for years afterward), her FAVORITE song in the world was "More Than Words", and she listened to it ALL THE TIME. I didn't like the song even when we were going out, but I put up with it, now I not only hate the song, it has really bad associations for me, so hearing it, especially shortly after that breakup, makes me want to hunt down the lead singer and strangle him to death with his own entrails.
but the dead were horrible live. From my own experiences, the best thing about a dead show was the impromptu travelling phreak show that followed them around...
Live had one album that was good/excellent (included "pain lies by the riverside") but then they went freaking ultracheese and never looked back unfortunately
I also absolutely hate Aerosmith, his voice is awful, he looks like one of those creepy rats from that animated rat movie from the 80's??? anyway
Also, one band that has been hugely popular that i cannot stand is Collective Soul, the guys voice is so weak and their music is also
Mindia is seriously the greatest troll that has ever lived.
