I dunno, I honestly don't much care for exactly the kind of games that are most popular on consoles. Never liked platformers, going back to the original NES and Super Mario Brothers. Bored me to tears. Never been a fan of FPSs either. Only one I ever much liked was the original Half-Life. Not saying they're bad games, just not my cup of tea.

FPS is for PC. Anything else is scrub-league.

RPGs for consoles alone could give you years of entertainment. You're missing a lot of quality shit.

I was a long time supporter of PC gaming, but we just have to face facts that it's dead. FPS and RTS are the only thing that are done better on PC and FPS are getting there now. All those awesome RPGs like BG and Fallout are on console now and often the controlls make for much more immersive gameplay.

I enjoyed multiplayer a lot more than singleplayer. But, that's how I am. I am a competitive player.

when i got my 360 i put like 100 hours into dragon age. i liked the story and it had good side quests but i still wish those games were more free to run around in. as in, less invisible walls

right now i'm doin assassin's creed 2 which might be a strong contender for one of my favorite newer games. i bought it on a whim w/o playing the first one or knowing anything about it including the fact that you're in some kind of computer simulation. i just love the parkour and the flow of the action. tho now i'm somewhere in memory sequence 8 and the game's starting to feel a little repetitive

i still pop in mirror's edge on a regular basis to try and best my times etc but it frustrates the fuck out of me after an hour every time

i need to get back to where i was in fallout 3 on my PC on the 360 version. i still have to do the DLCs except anchorage and find a couple more named weapons and all the rest of those radio tower signals/storm drains

trying to play street fighter IV but i've lost any skill i ever had from super nintendo days and i just get the shit beat out of me every time

as far as mobile games i just have an ipod touch. right now i play edge, quell, and the final fantasy remakes

seriously looking forward to new vegas and dragon age 2. also keeping my eyes peeled for beautiful katamari but nobody ever has it. and i wish i had a wii for that goldeneye reboot they're doing

also i still play heroes of might & magic 3 on a religious/medicinal basis hehe. i think my hours put into that game are coming somewhere near everquest. my buddy takes it around on his laptop and we're just always talking about it/playing it etc.... in fact i think i'm gonna boot it up right now

1. invisible walls - one of my biggest criticisms with the new metroid. used to be if you could see an area and you could figure out a way to get there, you're there. in the new one it's more like "yeah we know you can see that area but it's not important/necessary to the game so we put an invisible wall there to keep you out"

2. assassin's creed 2 is p good, but if you think it gets repetitive at times then DON'T play the first one! it's literally rescue citizen, beat up critic, climb clocktower, assassinate target, rinse and repeat. the sequel added in the secret movie clips, the armor/weapon upgrades, more weapon types, more combat moves, more climbing techniques, the idea of a "home base" etc etc etc. it's one of those rare instances where you can tell the developers actually listened to gamers' feedback/complaints and took them into consideration when making a sequel. in fact literally the only way in which AC2 is inferior to AC1 is the plot (but then again i'm a sucker for the whole crusades-era assassin mythos)

3. parkour

major gripe: where's the wall-run in assassin's creed? they have all this other awesome climbing/parkour but you can't just run along a wall

anyways yea i've been hearing that but i'm also a sucker for that era and i think altair > ezio. i'll suffer it because it's probly gonna be cheap and i want the backplot. i got altair's armor in ac2 but it doesn't look anything like he did in ac1 and you can't dye it.... disappointing

and fuck invisible walls. for exactly those reasons and then some. like how they make the DC area in fallout 3 really shitty and linear

I don't think I'll ever do MMO's again, mainly because I've got an addictive personality and no longer want to spend hours on end sitting around killing frogloks for a slightly better pair of magical boots so my character's numbers go up by a few points.

But I do go to MTG tournaments 3 times a week. I was playing Fallout 3 for a long ass time and it was amazingly good. Before that was Final Fantasy 13 (meh), Bioshock 2 (decent), Disgaea 3 (ok), Blue Dragon (ok), and Dragon Age (awesome).

I play a lot of MTG with my friends but I don't see the appeal to tournaments. Doesn't everyone just play the same two or three power decks in type?

To me booster drafts demand a lot more skill.

You MTG players ought to give the WOW TCG a try. I find the mechanics to be far superior, as is the overall balance, at least compared to when I played semi-competitively.

I grew up in a house of people who played cards all the time. I love a good game of wist, or gin rummy, or hearts or whatever...doesn't change the fact that I also like MTG.
