Worst lag I've ever experienced in a game ever.

Worst lag I've ever experienced in a game ever.
Hello WoW open beta.
Now I'm not making fun of WoW, or Blizzard. But they REALLY need to get their shit together before release.
-Mobs evading everything, and kicking your motherfucking ass.
-Lag that made 200+ people in one zone on EQ1 look like fun
-Getting stuck in the geometry of the zone, /cheer
Those 3 things are the most common and are quite frankly VERY common occurences.
Nothing other than that I've really encountered.

Ironically on a full EQ2 server I am experiencing no lag.
Now, if they'd just fix that crashing shit.. But what can ya expect with a new game and an assload of people logged in.
I never had any lag in WOW Closed Beta. That was with 1-2k people, so I'm guessing once the game gets rolling there shouldn't be too much.
Blizzard is lucky their 350k Open Beta cap is only really about 200k, probably. Every Bnet Kiddie I know around here has at least 4 accounts and is only playing one to two, max. Kind of bullshit, but no surprise.

It's more than 200k Lyion, you played when the beta servers were getting over 2000 people online at once and there was no lag. The OB servers are getting absolutely hammered with players. Right now on Beta 1 and 2 I have no lag at all. They probably needed another 10 servers for open beta but I think they wouldn't spend the money for 10 extra servers when they won't need them come release.
As for getting stuck in geometry, after playing for 8 months or so I've never had this happen to me, I don't know what you're talking about.

I'm just guessing based on the people here in bumfuckville who all have multiple accounts, Taxx. I think its safe to assume many thousands of Bnet people have multiple accounts.
So, if they capped it at 350k accounts with so many getting multiple accounts, I really doubt they have anywhere near 350k on the servers.
Also, a bigger reason the OB ones are hammered is everyones a n00b in the same zones. On the CB servers, you have a huge spread of levels.

Taxx, we both had lag last night at the smae time on the same server in different zones.
They do need to get their act together. If I do not buy WoW it will be for that reason alone. I still havent made up my mind about it.

3 servers after September.
I don't know how many, averaged like 600 for the total Horde most evenings on Beta Server 1. So probably another 900ish for Alliance, meaning maybe 1500 people most evenings on Beta 1.
I think PvP1 had about 150% of Beta 1's population and Beta 2 was probably close to that as well.
I have never had an issue with serverside lag except during the days when some jackass was sending illegal commands en masse through UI code and crashing Kalimdor every 10 minutes a month ago.
The mobs that get stuck and /evade everything are annoying, but far fewer in frequency since I started playing.
Griffon rides still lag me all to hell when approaching an area of high congestion and Ogrimmar lags like hell for the first minute or so I am in the city, what can I expect though? I play on a laptop with a 32mb vid card with a lot of the settings still set to high.
I have gotten stuck in the geometry twice, once in Booty Bay behind a building and the other time behind a tree in the Night Elf area, have never had an issue beyond those two times however.

i'm on 14 and it's a "medium" load server, barely any lag ever
it's happened to me like twice maybe for thirty seconds, but it wasn't bad at all
i haven't encountered that evade bug yet though, and i haven't gotten stuck, either

Chances are very good that you've never touched Linux a day in your pathetic life.
I haven't gotten stuck in geometry since playing on the Sandboxes when the WoW code was first released.
Lag last night was pretty bad though... at one point the zone I was in depopped all of the MOBs and people were just kind of milling about trying to figure out what was going on. A couple minutes later, everything repopped - but it repopped with all of the agro that it would have had if the MOBs existed while people were wandering around. I personally got slammed with about 6 MOBs that I *would* have agroed moving around. There were dead people all over the place afterwards.
Beyond that, I did have occasional 30 second lag spikes noticeable normally while trying to loot. There were a number of complaints in /1 about it.
I've never had a problem with MOBs evading all of my attacks. Never. Maybe your character just sucks, and that's why you get your ass kicked.

The "it's in beta" thing isn't holding its water anymore this close to release...
But they have fixed the one major issue with the game I had besides the lag...which isnt their fault entirely. The evading mobs. (as of last time they brought the servers down as I said)
