Week 9 NFL

Re: Week 9 NFL
That's the thing. A field goal in that situation is construed as running up the score.
Coaches and players publicly have said kicking the field goal in that situation is a slap in the face to the other team, because it's putting up 3 unnecessary points instead of allowing the defense a chance to stop you on a 4th down run. I don't understand it, but it's apparently an insider fact. I think punting the ball when you're at the 25 on 4th and 2 in a 38-0 game won't happen either. It's simply one of those instances where you will be criticized no matter what you do. NFL Monday Night Countdown had a terrific piece where Bill Parcells explained it completely.

That was an extra point

oh I know that, I was just making a point tho
if in that exact situation (4th and 1-2 on the 25, while up by 38) they sent in some guy to drop kick a field goal, then it's just being cuntish
Re: Week 9 NFL
Now people are upset that a team is "running up the score"?!
Holy shit, get a fucking clue. If your team can't perform, it's their fault 100%.
Stop them from scoring and put down the emo.

In all my sports years, in all the sports i have played (semi pro and pro), i have always been an advocate of not running up the score. I am also an advocate of showing class, and not humilating teams/people. I believe we as athletes need to set a standard, and be a role model for kids growing up.
Running up the score does nothing, and sets a bad example for kids watching.
Why fight it, i am a Man Whore!
Re: Week 9 NFL
Punts and field goals are considered risky plays in the sense that a block or a botched snap can turn into a TD in 5 seconds. If you get stopped on 4th down from the opponent's 30 yard line, then they just get the ball right there and at least have to use up clock to score, so I can understand that part of it.
Also I have no problem at all with backups trying to score more points and move the football either since they can always use some game time to work on their skills.
I think the main problem is with a team having their starting unit on the field with 6 minutes to go when they're up by 30, regardless of what they're doing on 4th downs.
That being said, I agree with Keyshawn on espn...if you don't want to get embarrassed by a team..do something about it and stop them instead of whining.

Well, like I said: I suspect that someone one of those humiliated teams will, on the 2nd time they play the pats this season WILL do something about it: Do their best to snap Brady's ACL into 47 pieces. And guess what, lots of people won't blame them for it, either.

yeah, no issue with that. if the backups, and 3rd stringers are still scoring at will, that's not running up the score. that's just playing a team that should be demoted to college ranks
ps, keyshawn is a bit of a fucktard in this case
if you could stop them, you wouldn't be in that situation in the first place

I pointed out that nobody snapped Manning's ACL in 2004 or the next year because of it. (Or any QB that blew out opponents frequently.)
And I'm not sure what the last part means. Some people think it's okay to try and significantly injure others because of the outcome of a game? The only people I can think of who would condone that behavior are criminals or psychotics. Most sane people would try to actually play better and blow that team out next time instead.
If people you don't know are destroying you in a pickup basketball game, do you try to exact revenge by making them step on your foot, Bruce Bowen style?

if they're being arrogant cunts about it, sure
Re: Week 9 NFL
What do you define 'arrogant cunts' as? Just playing?
As far I've heard or read, there's been no criticism from any opposing player over the verbal actions of any Patriot player, only that they're playing a little too well for their comfort.
Also, Matt Cassel lead the last TD drive against the Redskins; Brady left the game with 9-10 minutes left in the 4th Quarter. And Kyle Eckel ran the ball in for the last TD against the Cowboys.
Was steamrolling Crimson Tempest to kill the Statue of Rallos Zek being arrogant cuntbags, or just wanting the play the game (and doing it well) after they had their shot? It's the same mentality. Those that don't know or understand the people and their situation, and those that hate just to hate (like those that hated LoS) will pre-form their opinions ahead of time regardless of what is actually occurring, and blind themselves to it.

no, just playing isn't being arrogant cunts.
Tig pulling statue thru their wipe twice was probably a bit on the cuntish side tho

There is nothing wrong with doing your job and putting points on the board. What "bad" message exactly is it sending to kids by playing till the whistle blows? If it's "wrong" messages you're worried about, how about explaining to that giving up (like what these defenses are doing) is not the way to go?
This is all bullshit. This whole "runningupthescoregate" is nothing more than marketing material for ESPN to sell more advertising spots, period. It's drama - it sells. ESPN and all these other useless shitty sports channels are no different than CNN and Fox. They're after ratings, they're after market share. There's a reason CNN will never tells us "good news" - because they know from experience - good news doesn't sell, it's capture the audiences' attention.
So, let's see what do we have so far... Oh, we've got Brady not buttoning his chin strap, we've got BB and the whole Spygate fiasco, we've got Wilfork trying to "hurt" Losman... bla bla bla. If it's not one thing it's another. Soon as this whole pussified running up the score bullshit is over - they'll find something new to bitch and cry about. They'll find new and "dramatic" to beat to death.
In case none of you realize... it ISN'T the other coaches or players that are crying. It's the worthless talking heads of ESPN (and the like) programs and many sports writers.
Oh we have Steven Young crying like a little bitch who got his lunch money stolen - yet that fucking hypocrite did the same MF'ing thing when he played.
Here are just some of the scores of the San Francisco-Atlanta series during Young’s tenure leading the post-Montana 49ers:
* 1992 – San Fran 56, Atlanta 17
* 1992 – San Fran 41, Atlanta 3
* 1994 – San Fran 42, Atlanta 3
* 1994 – San Fran 50, Atlanta 14
http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Ar ... loset.html
Steve Young is nothing more than a jealous, hypocritical piece of shit.
What strikes me the most is that these whiny cunts that are crying about how "classless" the Pats are for putting lots of points on the board are the same fucknuts who imply that someone should "take Brady's knees out."
What the fuck has gone wrong with this country where we are now crying about sports teams putting too many points up? How about we grow a pair of nuts and suck it up and your teams try better next time.
We're seeing what is probably the greatest NFL team to have ever been assembled out doing what the greatest NFL team ever assembled SHOULD be doing, but rather than marveling at their dominance we cry like little bitches who's feelings got hurt.
These are paid professional athletes. They're paid to do a job. If the defense can't stop the offense from putting points on the board... too fucking bad. Get a better defense.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 02746.html
ESPN is pissed for no other reason than they know their attention whoring golden boy is about to get owned 8 ways to Sunday -- this Sunday. They can't stand it, they can't stand the Patriots.
Oh and by the way.. the Colts have done the same thing - they all have.
But you see, it's only an issue when the most hated team in the NFL does it. THEN it's a problem.
My message to all those whining about getting beat beyond recognition is simple. Too fucking bad, stop crying, stop whining and do something about it - here's an idea - stop building one dimensional teams around one star.

I think its pretty obvious that Diekan typed that whole thing out prior to his HUGE POST ABOUT NEVER POSTING ON NT EVER AGAIN and set up a timer program to make it post today.

Surprise team this year: Detroit Lions. How long before Marvin Lewis get fire?

I think Green Bay is more of a surprise than detroit
I'd almost put chicago and SD in the surprise team category too, just not in a good way, heh

Re: Week 9 NFL
I think the best rookie maybe the league has ever seen is coming out this year. Vikings Adrien Peterson is winning games for the vikings single handedly. Now They have a good left side block but bad right and he runs both sides. If he can keep this up he has a very good career ahead of him.

Its sports for Christs sake, I wish they would quit crying about people running up the score. When I got humiliated when I played sports as a kid, that just made me try that much harder the next game to NOT get beat that bad again.
